  2. Prepare 1/2 cup wheat flour

Dal Dhokli is a traditional Gujarati dish. This recipe consists of spicy whole wheat uncooked roti pieces simmered into dal and cooked to perfection. Dal dhokli has a mild sweet and spicy flavor. Dal Dhokli is a spicy, satisfying, and sumptuous one pot meal made by boiling lightly spiced wheat flour dumplings in a lentil base.

  1. Rinse toovar dal and add in pressure cooker with 1.5 cup water and salt and turmeric powder.
  2. Cook it for 2-3 whistles and keep aside.
  3. Now prepare dough for dhokli. Take wheat flour and add turmeric powder, salt, chilli powder and oil.
  4. Add water and knead dough. Cover and let it sattle for 10 minutes.
  5. Now switch on the flame. Heat oil and add cumin seeds, mustard seed, hing, peanuts dry chilli, curry leaves, red chilli powder and mix well. Add tomatoes.
  6. Add dal and 1/2 cup water. Boiled and add jaggery and lemon juice. Reduce the flame.
  7. Meanwhile take a round ball of dough. Put it on rolling board. Roll it out into thin circle. Cut into thin strips.
  8. Add the strips into dal and cook for 5 minutes or give it one whistle.
  9. Turn off the flame. Transfer to serving bowl. Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot.
