Instructions to make Barnyard millet pongal:
- Heat oil and ghee in a pressure cooker. Temper all the above ingredients. Wash and soak the kuthiravali for 30 mins. Soaking is optional. I generally dont soak. Add the washed millet and moong dal. Add water and salt.Stir well. Cook for about 5-6 whistles.
- Once the pressure is released, give a nice stir.
- Heat oil and ghee in a ladle, add all the tempering ingredients.
- Temper and mix it along with the cooked dal and rice. Stir nicely
- Lovely venpongal ready to be served with chutney or sambar.
