Gujarati Khatta Dhokla is a healthy dal cake, made with a batter of rice and dals like - urad dal and chana dal, flavoured with ginger and green chilli which is steamed and seasoned with mustard and sesame seeds.

  1. Make ready 1 cup chanadaal
  2. Get 1 cup rice
  3. Make ready 1/2 cup moog daal
  4. Prepare 1 tea spoon haldi powder
  5. Take 2-3 tea spoons of adrak mirchi paste/ roughly chopped
  6. Take Salt as per taste
  7. Get 1 tea spoon rai
  8. Take Oil
  9. Get Coriander for garnish

Here, we show you how to make authentic Khatta Dhokla using a batter of rice and urad. Instructions to make Khata dhokla:
  1. Soke daals and rice separately for 3 to 4 hr
  2. Now grind them to fine paste and mix them in one big vessel and keep it for fermatation for 6 to 7 hrs appox.
  3. Once fermanted take small amount in one vessel add in salt, haldi, adark mirchi and makr fine batter.
  4. If u wish u can add baking soda at this stage (i did not add as my batter was fermanted very well).
  5. Now take greased plate pour in the batter and steam it for 5 to 10 mins.
  6. Cool it and cut them to small pcs.
  7. Take oil in kadai add in rai and curry pata and til once they are done add in dhoklas and cook till the sides are brown. Granish with corianders
  8. Serve with tea, coffee or penutoil and lausn ki chutney.

Serve it with Green Cutney as a starter or as an evening snack. You can also try other Gujarati farsan recipes like Dakor Na Gota or Samosa.
